so i'm bacck once again bringin you some more "under the radar" musicck. honestly this post should have been one of the first since this featured artist is a personal friend of mine. now anybody that knows me, knows that i am not the biggest fan of rap, but this one here is a personal favorite. He goes by the name of Du¢kett aka Rapta and reps the Singin Hills/Oak Cliff/Dallas area to the fullest. He's an up and coming rapper who could most likely rap with the best of em... He only spits what he knows, and these days that's something you don't find in most rappers. Needless to say there's no fraudulent activity when it comes to this rapper. Completely talent-based, Du¢kett writes down nothing whatsoever and goes completely off the dome. Regardless of what anybody says, talkin bout life in the hood is NOT overrated, because the way i see it, it's not about what you say, but it's the way you say it. He talks about hood life in a way that ain't been done which is why he's marketable and if you can't get a grip on his music maybe you just ain't meant to be on like the rest of us. As most of you all know, Keri Hilson's first solo effort dropped this week and I have to say, I was rather impressed. My initial thoughts toward her album were that it probably wouldn't have any other bangas other than the singles she put out (turning me on, energy, etc.), but I was pleasantly surprised. The album was produced mostly by Timbaland and Polow Da Don and they did a really good job. A favorite track of mine called Intuition will be included below the post (compliments of the wonderful iMeem.com). basically anybody who knows me, knows that I have an ear for just about anything that exists. If it's got music that pleases my ears, best believe i'm downloading it the minute i get to a computer. This guy I'm droppin on you guys today I found about two years ago in Barnes and Noble (aTea! right along side, too). When we arrived we only caught the last minute of his title track, "Phantom Punch." From then on, all three of us have been hooked on Sondre Lerche. This Norwegian pop-alt rocker has quite a few hits with us Drop Kids. Embedded below, you'll find his track "Airport Taxi Reception." Short track (the best ones always are), but it's great and I guarantee that all three of us have it on at least one playlist. His latest album, Phantom Punch features the Faces Down Quartet, the band that plays on the majority of his tracks. Listen and enjoy.
